Women Empowerment

Under women empowerment, we have formed and strengthened Self Help Groups in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh by conducting training to the leaders of the SHGs.

They were given inputs on need and importance of compulsory attendance to the meetings, need to note attendance in the meetings,  members awareness on group’s objective, roles and responsibilities of leaders and members, homogeneity of the group,  savings collection, loan disbursements, memberwise savings and loan status,  repayment performance, cash and bank status,  external loans, record Keeping,  members participation in decision making, default management and conflict resolution, vision and mission, loan and saving status, Bank procedures and linkages, SHG  federations and players, etc.

As an impact of these training the women in our target area have been interestingly participating in SHG activities and became financially very strong by mobilising a total savings of approximately Rs. 10 crores since the inception of Creators in 1992 and also mobilised bank loans double to their savings. These savings amount and the loans mobilised from the banks are rotated by the SHGs among the members for small interests. The members use these loans for both productive and consumption purposes. With the loans taken by the members, invest in several petty business activities both individually and also jointly as a group. We regularly monitor the activities of these groups and from time to time review the status of these groups and give inputs to those groups who lagging behind. With the successful running of these SHGs,  the women have almost kept away the middlemen who were earlier giving loans for usurious interests and exploit the poor women in several ways.
