Training on Handpump Repair

Under skill development we have conducted number of trainings on hand pump repairs to the village youth in the rural and tribal areas Devipatnam Rampachodavaram and gangavaram Mandals in East Godavari District of A.P where they use hand pumps.

In each training 15 persons belong to 15 different villages will participate and the training is for 7 days. The participants have learnt about how to identify the problems in hand pumps and how to repair the hand pumps etc. Earlier all the villages were depending on the hand pumps mechanic of Panchayath Raj Department in each mandal .

Since there are many hand pumps in a village and in the mandal level are many villages the government mechanic unable to quickly attend the complaints  and sometimes it was taking even 15 to 20 days in a month to attend the repairs. Particularly this has become a big

problem during summers. After we  gave the trainings to the village youth whenever there is a repair they repairing it locally with our trained mechanic.

Need-Based Training

We have organized need based training programmes to the community members on skill development,  Self-help Groups on their rating improvement etc. to build their capacities in  Devipatnam Mandal in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh.

Training on Palm Leaf & Bamboo Handicraft Items

Under artisans development we have conducted number of Palm leaf& bamboo handicraft training to the tribal youth and women in Devipatnam Mandal in East Godavari District of A.P. The artisans are the main participants in these training on handicraft items.  The participants have learnt about how to make handy-craft items like small purses, bags, key chains, garlands, bangle boxes, ornament boxes, cell phone pouches etc with tender palm leaves and in bamboo training on how to make stools, tables, chairs, dining sets, flower wages, boxes etc.   They were given inputs on natural colour making, palm leaf processing, design making, leaf pealing, product making etc. in palm leaf training and in bamboo handicraft training cutting of bamboos, peeling, shape-making, nailing the bamboo etc.  The participants have shown good interest in the training and at the end of the training, they started making very elegant palm leaf handicraft items. These items have a very good local and international market. So far the handicraft items produced by the tribal artisans have a good local market. This has given them a very good livelihood opportunity. The artisans have good eke out from this.
